What is optrex allergy

Active ingredient/s:- sodium cromoglicate 2 %
Preservatives:- benzalkonium chloride, EDTA
Indications for use:- longer term management of seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis

Availability:- CLARITEYES 2 % gtt, 10mL bottle
Current optometric application/s (UK):- management of seasonal and allergic conjunctivitis unresponsive to eyewashes, decongestants and / or antihistamines; can be used concurrently with the eyewashes, decongestants and / or antihistamines
Contraindication/s:- known allergy (sensitivity) to the drug or any other ingedients of the pharmaceutical
Special precautions/s:- none specific for the drug Adverse drug reaction/s:- (rare) local skin allergy
Comments:- patients should be advised that the efficacy of sodium cromoglycate requires sustained and regular dosing (q.d.s.), but that the dose should not be exceeded.

Indications for use:- shorter term relief of irritative conjunctivitis

Current optometric application/s (UK):- short term management of acute irritative conjunctivitis due to allergies
Contraindication/s:- narrow angle glaucoma; known allergy (sensitivity) to the drug or any other ingedients of the pharmaceutical
Special precautions/s:- limit use in coronary disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidisnm, diabetes, pregnancy; limit use in infants
Adverse drug reaction/s:- rebound conjunctival injection if over-used
